WILD BUNCH EVENT
At Wild Bunch shoots
the costuming leans toward campaign hats, jodhpurs, & puttees. But most of
the movie showed many other costuming ideas, but the military part always
shines through. As the movie takes place around 1913, any costuming of the era
will be acceptable of course. Mexican a-la Lyle Gorch is great. Bring those
Pike Bishop 1911 shoulder rigs. If you have a German military uniform of the
era, etc. It’s all good. Keep the 1913 date in mind for costuming and firearms
and if it doesn’t look like your equipment was around back then, save it for
another event. No tricked out, compensated 1911’s
please…..
The Wild Bunch Side
Event
Active shooting participants are required
to shoot all stages using 1 or 2
pistols, (single, or double action revolver and not more than ONE semi auto
pistol of the period, the appropriate shotgun, & any repeating rifle in
rifle caliber, (30-30, 30-40 Krag, 30-06 etc.)
of any pattern available up to 1913 when the
movie takes place. WWII era bolt rifles are not quite right but will be
accepted as will the Mausers and Brits since they looked much the same to the
untrained eye. Krags,
Savages, lever bolt or single shots will be allowed. You might be a tad slow
with a single shot as this will be fired 5 times. Yes the
HANDGUNS: This may be
shot with ONE semi auto pistol with a reload or TWO handguns.
One pistol can be a SAA type or double
action like the S&W early "M & P" type including Webleys. No modern double actions built beyond 1913 style
please. Leave the Pythons and Combat Magnums home. S&W 1917’s and Colt New Service are
acceptable.
The other handgun may be one of the semi –
auto pistols of the early 1900's, including the 1911 & 1911A-1 Colts ( not really correct but we'll let them in) NO RACE guns
please. (Think spirit of the game.) Broom Handle Mausers, Bergmans,
Borchardts, Lugers would be awesome. All ammunition
for these meet the same requirements established for all handguns: no jacketed
rounds, under 1000 FPS, & at least .30 caliber.
You may use two revolvers in single or
double action but no more than one semi auto pistol.
As to shotguns, again anything up to 1913.
You can use a double, pump or even semi auto from the era. Think 1911 or Model
12
OTHER DETAILS: All shooters carrying auto pistols for the
Wild Bunch shoot will be carried with an empty chamber and only racked when on
the firing line under the clock. This match is a DUELIST or DOUBLE DUELIST
style match for handguns. Handguns must
be reholstered or staged in a safe manner.
Clips or magazines are to be loaded with 5 rounds only. You may carry
more than one extra magazine. Any failures to feed, etc. may be cleared during
a stage and rounds made up. Dropped rounds are still dead rounds (can’t pick
them up) per SASS rules. Dropped
magazines are dead magazines.
All revolver designs
are to be loaded with 5 rounds only. Hammer should be down on the empty
cylinder as per SASS rules.

revolvers may be shot double OR single action.
